Web Hosting:What to do:Should make the following suggestions to your search to a trusted host End:Search:Going through the reviews and through investigation of the concerns of the host can help a lot. Questions like: What is the experience in the industry? Location of the data center? What is the customer and the strength of the workers? All these questions have satisfactory answers.Contact Technical Support:They should appreciate the response by a few simple questions before them on a host of concern. The knowledge about their needs:The user should refer to both sides of the coins. Does he / she did not need large amounts of disk space and bandwidth, or. If the answer is NO! It should not be wasting valuable money for it from. If the answer is YES! If a legacy from which one can buy you enough space to handle the traffic required.Good backup plan is necessary,Considered an important factor for the user to the backup plan. Hosts numerous delays in this area. In addition, do not offer, they could provide weeks or even months. Good security can prevent the user from frequent downtime and data loss. When a computer is not in a position to meet this criterion, you should try another alternative. Web Hosting:Do not:As a result of errors can affect the strategies of the users:Not measured on the basis of price:Only price can not be absolute criteria for obtaining a reliable host. Cheap hosting providers may also be useful if you have the right, is left to discover. There is no denying that high prices provide a good service. For this you should still willing to pay for, at least. 50 cents per gigabyte of bandwidth for average reliability and three or four times, as the quality, if you want the highest hosting.Purchasing hosting from an auction site:Not so that it can not be ideally located for the research by organizing an auction site, but it is a rare chance to win a medal on the positive side. Usually happens if the company did not even manage a website for their services.Testimonials confidentSeveral witnesses were unreliable. Often, the hosts are in the testimonies show the contact information and lists are very reliable as well, but you should not rely entirely on them.Free Domain with HostingIt is always advisable to separate from his own domain hosting company. There are several hosts that offer free domains with their hosting plans. As long as the user with a registered domain, this process is going well. If the provider registers its name and only allows the user to “borrow” and then you will always keep the risk to her as a hostage domain. Therefore, you should always properly before they think about policies.

Sure, Web site hosting is a complicated procedure. There are some issues that are so user, while searching for a hosting company. Some of them are, know the space requirements, the amount of the transfer of a trusted host, and to align everything. Is not an easy task! Is not it? Adding e-commerce is more than enough to make the task much more complicated. The purpose of this article is to solely deal with these additional complications.Storage and transfer:What is common to all types of hosting? The answer is transmitted and space, or rather the market. This is usually measured on a monthly basis. It is very important to have complete knowledge of the user on it before the search for a suitable host. Compared to other e-commerce sites require more space and transfer. The reason is the presence of the truck on which the online business is based. These are on the account that is installed by the function, space and their scripts to search the storage of more applications to their customers as administrative management, contains articles back to her car and check-out. Huge amount of transfer is necessary to further shopping is based on the fact that the number of users who have used the car. For this reason, close to good starts with a small scale and for the upgrade in the future for the answer. When you are talking potential sellers who follow online, a good concept, as many products to sell in the beginning. It can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and many retailers no longer ask the full stock on the Internet. When it comes to someone with a huge number of products that had to be reminded that for a service with a larger hosting package must go. Once the decision has been for products that put you fully in the search for a basket, they confirmed to concentrate.Shopping Cart:The choice of shopping cart may be, as with any interest. Users who are beginners in the field of e-commerce may not have much knowledge and experience in all software shopping cart. There are different types of species that can be taken in person or by the hosting companies are recommended. The car must match the user’s needs and bring his shop during a transitional period. Selection will be no investigation. You can also go looking for the demonstration of a safe. You have to understand that there is a primary source for making online transactions and can not be taken for granted. If you’re a big company and have our own design studio, which is a vehicle, a fundamental understanding of the processes of the car is very important. They should have a good pass by its shopping cart software as potential often as possible. Users must ensure that SSL support, which a common protocol for security at the site that help the user’s credit card number, will be kept confidential, while an online business. It requires the defense of a merchant account and payment gateway. On several occasions, the computer stays away from the provision of such services. A user to protect its dealers to services regardless of whether the landlord that he confirm or she must ensure that they are compatible. Do not forget to check on the ceiling and displayed to cart, try level best not to cross. The functioning and efficiency of performance of the shop can be compromised when it set numerous amounts of products into them. Therefore, they must ensure that all things will be searching, too. There are some dealers that provide services and downloadable items that sell not ensure the river, as required. If the cart is a way of participating in the features that are installed, it can provide the presence of third parties to this function. The dealer needs to buy and install this add-on based on their own, as a company hosting concern, not to be able to do to help them.Consistency and support:Without doubt one of the key elements of the host clock is consistency. What happens when an online site suffers from downtime, damage to customers and sales of accounts? For this condition sensitive to the issue of a trusted host is necessary. Warranty orally are not sufficient. Proper investigation and confirmation is essential. For this you can also help the ratings. When it comes to distributors, they always ready to support additional amount for the availability of accurate and reliable online payment. For a subsequent process should stay away from any form of free or “bargain” at hosting provider, because this form of accommodation that you do not take the chance with the reliability and availability.DeductionsFor the correct choice of e-commerce hosting company has to keep in mind some of the features. To develop a real strategy in terms of products, shopping cart, and then only for the hosting company. You may need additional storage and transfer in comparison to other site, but start carefully with the product selection and you can still save considerable concern about hosting. Users must have a car that is easy to see how the steps may later lead to downtime and to transfer much of the work to their products. So at the end user must ensure that their desire has hosted the availability of the company, this is the reason that can not produce an online store, sales or revenues, if you suffer from downtime.

There is a new way to update friends and family on what is happening to your life. Using the internet, you can create a personal journal and share with people. This is called a web blog or blogging. A blog is similar to a journal or diary where you can post your activities or thoughts on a regular basis. Just like a diary this is solely maintained by you but the difference is that you can give access or allow people to read your blog or post comments on what you have written. There are different types of blogs depending on the subject: The most common type is a personal blog. Blogspot, WordPress and other blog sites make available spaces for personal blogs. Personal blogs are online diaries or journals. You can post anything on your blog including images and videos. People also make cultural blogs which cover topics about the arts, music, painting and culture in general. Most of these blogs are made for educational purposes. Niche blogs are also called topic blogs. These blogs focus on a specific subject like acne remedies, diet methods, etc. This type is usually created in support of a website which sells the product or service. Business related topics are covered by business blogs. This type of blog is used by people to update others about business and its environment. Good examples are the blogs about the stock market. Science blogs are made by those who want to inform others about a particular scientific field. Usually the blog is restricted since some information is sensitive or confidential. Blogs written by two or more people are called collaborative blogs. This type of blog is maintained by clubs or interest groups. Students have also found a use for blogging. This type of blog is similar to a cultural blog though the subject maybe about a particular course. When a discussion about certain topics is made though a blog this is called a forum blog. Using a blog for advertising purposes is called spam blog or splogs. This kind of blog advertises a product or service blatantly. Anyone can make a blog especially that it is FREE. Let us discuss how to start a blog. Choose a blog site service for which your blog will be published. You will then be asked to give your blog a title. Most blog site services allow you to choose a theme or style. This will make your blog look interesting. There are blog site services that can make you set your publication for public or private view. For private view blogs, only those given access usually through logins and passwords can read your postings. After making the aesthetics and access level for your site, you can publish your site. You can start posting to your blog. Blogging has now become not only a hobby but has become an interaction point between people on a personal level. Business owners have found ways to use blogs to support their business as well. Find a blog site service that you will be comfortable. Happy Blogging!

Its not at all easy to select a perfect web hosting company rather it is as complicated as sending one of one’s children off to college. One may have complete confidence in his/her son or daughter’s abilities but unless they are placed in the proper environment they will not have the opportunity to thrive. In the same way, no matter how sophisticated or impressive the website one may have designed, but if it is not placed at the right place all is useless.

Selection of webhosting is not just finding a place for website rather it is finding the company that offers resources that enables one’s website to operate effectively and to grow as per demand of the business or public. This implies that one must be able to store and transfer enough data so as to enable smooth functioning of site with less cost.

In case of free webhosting the providers place their ads on one’s site. These ads helps in generating revenue for the hosting company by enabling them to display ads to visitors to one’s website. However, the choice is entirely on user to determine whether the ads are appropriate for visitors or not. In addition one is also having the choice to decide whether the amount of storage and the available bandwidth is sufficient for the type of website one wants to display or not. For a personal website, that is periodically modified, a personal website is sufficient. However using services of free hosting on site with significant traffic or a site, which is with commercial focus, is not a right option.

This is because all commercial web-hosting companies are not created equal. While deciding for the proper service, cost is a factor but reliability and service cant be ignored. One should expect his/her host to be up and functioning 100% of the time but at the same time guarantee of 99-99. 5% uptime is also must. Less than this is not at all acceptable.

If one is managing much of the activity for one’s site, then he/she must make sure that he/she gets the Control Panel of his/her choice. There are some hosts providing Control Panels that are cumbersome and complicated. One must make sure that if the provider is having all the functionality that is required not now but in near future. These features include PHP, MySQL, SSI, . htaccess, SSL, etc. One must examine carefully for the offers for email and auto responders also.

If one is committing for a year or more, many web-hosting services offer very low rates. This proves to be a boon in a long run but it is advisable to pay monthly until one is confident in the service and, quite importantly, the quality of the technical support that they provide. Moreover getting accurate responses to questions and that too immediate makes life of anyone wonderful.

All the hype about the sale of Weblogs Inc. to America Online (AOL) has given rise to the now famous question – How much is your blog worth? In acquiring Weblogs Inc. , AOL has provided some concrete metrics to future valuation of blogs. How much will traditional media be willing to pay for a blog? Conversely, how much would you sell your blog for?
AOL-Weblogs Inc. Deal – Benchmark for Future Blog Valuation
Weblogs Inc was established by Jason Calacanis and Brian Alvey in 2003. It is a network of blogs which includes under its wings successful blogs such as Engadget and Autoblog. Jason Calacanis pointed out that Weblogs Inc. earns in excess of $1 million yearly in Google Adsense revenues alone.
AOL purchased Weblogs Inc. for a confidential sum assessed at somewhere between $25 – $40 million. After said purchase, Tristan Louis came up with a blog valuation scheme based on the deal. He created a chart of blog value using the value of each inbound link to Weblogs Inc. as the basis. It is common knowledge that blog readers follow links. Search engines also act as users and primarily determine blog quality rankings based on linkage data thus direct and indirect value links are a great proxy for value measurement. In the blogosphere, conversations that nurture connectivity represented by links and indexes like Technorati give a vantage view of the value of a blog.
Tristan Louis itemized the publicly available data (list of blogs indexed) at Weblogs Inc. network including the number of inbound links (Technorati blog numbers) per blog divided by the purchase price to determine the value of an inbound link to a blog. At the rumored price of $25 million, the estimated value is $ 564 per link. At $30 million, it is $677. 57 per link and $903. 42 at an acquisition price of $40 million. Interestingly, the consumer segment chalks up the biggest percentage of linkage. Engadget represents over a third of the overall network traffic.
Applying Tristan Louis’s Weblogs Inc, sale, Dave Winer has also sold http://Weblogs. com to Verisign for a rumored price of around $2 million. Blog entrepreneur Nick Denton, founder of Gawker Media has signed a deal with VNU Media to publish Gizmodo (gadget blog) across Europe in six languages. VNU Media is a leading worldwide information and media company which owns ACNielsen, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, among others. With this deal, blog publishing has hit big time.
However, the value of a blog is not calculated based solely on links using AOL’s purchase of Weblogs Inc. Jason Calacanis, the man behind Weblogs Inc. , disputed using links alone as proxy for the value of the blog network. He reiterated that the acquisition price was based also on the ever reliable revenue, earnings, management and other metrics.
Tristan Louis based his valuation scheme on links to a blog but he also acknowledged the significance of technology, talented management team, financial performance and growth. There is direct correlation between links, traffic, revenue and earnings capacity of a blog or blog network but it takes sound management to maximize all these potentials.
Value of a Blog – Some Metrics to Consider
How much is your blog worth? There is no one standard gauge yet. But one way to measure the value is to look at certain factors to gain a better perspective on how to measure the future value of a blog.
Aside from number of links as mentioned earlier, traffic level is a key factor in determining blog value. Highly trafficked blogs definitely have a bigger potential for earning compared with those blogs with few readership. A blog’s success is highly dependent on visitors/readers. However, ascertaining the value of traffic is a thorny issue. Some bloggers value traffic anywhere from $3 to $10 per hit a day. From this data, a blog with 2000 unique visitors (page views) would be worth between $6000 to $20,000. The downside to this valuation approach is that some traffic is more valuable than others. A personal blog might have 1000 unique visitors but more difficult to convert to revenue than a blog with 1000 readers that blogs on the topic of digital cameras.
Aside from diverse traffic streams that come from bookmarks, direct links or RSS subscribers will make risk of losing traffic low. Social bookmarking sites are inching their way to becoming prime sources of traffic, with peer referral at times carrying more weight than search results. There are a number of well known bookmarking sites you should link to. Top bookmarking sites include Furl, http://del. icio. us, Diggs, to name a few. By leaving an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed, you can feed you readers’ desire for information. Visitors can get automatic updates whenever you provide new content. Having a fairly good base of bookmarkers and subscribers ensure a steady flow of fans and repeat readers – the all-important traffic.
In the blogosphere as in any other field, revenue or earnings is a major focus. a logical approach to blog valuation would be to base its worth upon current and projected earnings, assuming that your blog is earning something to start with. Again, there are varying views on how to use current earnings to measure a blog’s value.
Some bloggers opine you should expect six to eight months earnings as your blog value. A blog with a daily income of $150 would be worth between $27,000 – $36,000. Still, others determine a blog’s value as being two years of current earnings. A blog earning $150 a day would be worth $108,000. Again, there is a huge disparity between these methods of assessing value. Having diverse streams in the form of multiple affiliate programs also increases blog revenue. An affiliate program is an advertising model in which a blog owner markets via his blog a given product, on behalf of another company. The blog owner is reimbursed a percentage of all sales sold thru his affiliate link. Reimbursement rates can vary from 1% and upwards. Google Adsense is a prime example.
Visitors access blogs throughout the Internet primarily through search engines. If your blog does not have a post appearing in the top ten search engine rankings, the chances of visitors reaching your blog is low. A blog’s presence on relevant search engines is a significant medium for maintaining a blog’s success. Search engine ranking and pages indexed in search engines is critical for generating traffic to a blog. Having your blog among the top results of a search or receiving a high Google PageRank (a system for ranking blog posts) would increase your blog’s overall value.
High quality content will always be a key factor for determining a blog’s value. As has been said time and time again – Content is King. Moreover, search engines can only “read” a blog. What attracts a search engine are the words, the content of a blog that explains, informs, shares and educates readers. Good content increases blog value.
All these aforementioned objective metrics can be considered in assessing the value of a blog. Added to all these, a talented management team behind a blog, its underlying tools and blog technology in use can further help to estimate the future value of a blog.

The blogging phenomenon has started to make companies view the potential benefits of corporate blogging. They all agree that blogs achieve a mass media effect through the high level of networking in the blogosphere wherein news disseminates very rapidly. The blogosphere (online community of blogs and their writings) has heralded a new communication tool that can influence public opinion of a company. However, companies are slow to react to the growing credibility of corporate blogs as communication channels.
A recent list of Fortune 500 company blogs shows that only 5% of the United States’ corporations have joined the blogging arena. Companies are treading this still unfamiliar territory with caution and skepticism. Company executives, public relations people and legal experts are just starting to figure out how they can utilize the potential of business blogs without subjecting themselves especially their companies to possible complications. Indeed, some companies are hesitant to plunge into the “scary” world of blogging for fear of encountering legal and business risks inherent in blogging such as libel, slander, lawsuits and disclosure of confidential and proprietary information.
Despite the fear, some industry leaders like Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems and General Motors, to name a few, have dived headlong into corporate blogging. These companies recognize that a blog is an immensely effective yet low cost way to boost corporate communications and marketing objectives and at the same time connect with customers and prospects.
Basically, a blog (short for weblog) is published with easy to use software that enables a blogger (blog author) to create and update blog pages from which he can express his thoughts on a particular subject. Written article on a blog is called a “post” and can be linked to other blogs, websites, news features, photo images and audio files. Links added to the text of blog posts allow blog content to be indexed and accessed by popular search engines such as Technorati and then disseminated in the web.
A corporate blog makes it easy for readers, be they customers or prospects, to find the latest and most accurate information about its new products and services. It can help achieve customer familiarity with the company products or services. Through the corporate blog, a company can converse directly with customers and prospects. Two-way communication creates trust and builds customer relationships. A corporate blog is the perfect choice for interacting with existing and potential clients. Corporate blogging serves as a channel for a company and its customers to meet on common ground and to know each other more. A corporate blog allows a company to closely track where and under what condition its products or services are being discussed online. Through the corporate blog, a company can keep an ear to the ground to hear what is being said about the company and speaking up when the situation calls for it. A more personal or understated benefit of a corporate blog is that it gives a human face to a perceived faceless and detached business entity. A corporate blog conjures images of people who are passionate about their products or services and are eager to engage customers and prospects.
It is a risky world out there and the blogosphere is no exception. For companies who are contemplating on setting out into the world of corporate blogging, it is in your best interests to have knowledge of some basic dos and don’ts of corporate blogging.
First on the agenda is do determine whether your company needs a corporate blog. A blog might be inappropriate for your company. Not all corporate cultures can tolerate the open, direct communication inherent to make a corporate blog successful. There are instances where blogs could not be reconciled with business practices and regulations. Clearly, there are risks to consider. Risks lie mainly in the content and the character or tone of comments which admittedly can only be censored to a limited degree.
If a corporate blog can fit your company culture, selecting the individual or employee who will write your blog is doubtless to say the most important decision. An ideal corporate blogger is one who is an expert in his field. He should also write with passion and sincerity. The object of your blog is to engage your customers and prospects in conversation and the most effective way to start a conversation is to be sincere and honest in your blog while writing about topics that are important to your company. He should have good writing skills. More importantly, he should be one who is respected by his peers and reacts calmly to outbursts. Blogging is an intense medium. The individuals who will blog for your company should be the ones who can keep their cool despite critical comments. Most likely, the ideal individual is not your CEO. Corporate speak won’t thrive in the blogosphere.
In corporate blogging, goals/missions are of prime importance. For a blog to yield value, it has to be created with specific goals in mind. Some of these goals may be to increase company credibility, enhance customer service and interaction, and give customers a peek of the behind-the-scenes “feel” of the corporate culture, showcase new products or services and more. The important thing is to be clear about your goals. You have to be sure about what you are trying to get done and stick to them. As with any corporate undertaking, you also need to periodically evaluate how well you are meeting these goals. If blogging is proving to be futile, then make changes. If it still does not work, then discontinue blogging.
Do take time to know your customers or prospects. Find out what your audience care about, what they are interested in. You have to identify what their needs are and what service you can perform for them. To get their attention, work out a way to participate in a conversation credibly. To be credible, come up with worthwhile content – ideas, insights, news and information. Content need not be long but should be interesting. Corporate blogs should not veer away from its chosen categories or topics. This is not to say you cannot be personal in your blog posts because you should, but the audience you are trying to connect with do not want to read through your blog if it is injected with a litany of personal rumblings.
Do engage your audience in lively and substantial conversations. Take into account what they say and reply to their comments. Respond in a professional and businesslike manner whether the comment is positive or negative. Allowing comments from your audience will definitely mean some complaints and criticisms. Don’t take them personally. Respond honestly and your company credibility will rise. Allowing audience to make comments is a distinct characteristic of blogs. Openness is important for successful blogging. That said, use a feedback filter or comment moderation to monitor and control comments and delete comment spam (useless comments).
For a blog to accomplish its mission, do update regularly. Post frequently and consistently, daily or weekly, at least. Do be generous with your links. Linking is one reason why blogging has become a popular online communication medium. The best corporate blogs, more often than not, have lots of links in each blog post.
Do draw up a set of corporate blogging policies. Set limits on what information can be made public. Make clear what is allowed and what is not. Legal issues crop up in blogging. It is better to have some safety nets. In drafting blogging policies, it is advisable to do some research on it and publish proposed policies to get some feedback.
As for what not to do, do not close down existing employee blogs. More often than not, an employee is already writing a blog. It might be full of grievances about the recent spate of oil increases or it could be snapshots of a relaxing vacation in the Maldives. Maybe this employee is singing praises of the company’s new product. Why not engage this employee blogger in a dialogue about what your corporate blog aims to achieve. Don’t wait for a crisis to break out before creating a corporate blog. It takes time to see potential results of blogging. Don’t keep your corporate bloggers anonymous or hidden behind some make-believe characters. The audience will know and it will have detrimental effects.
Lastly, a blog is not a miracle cure. It will not single-handedly turn your distressed company around. Corporate blogging should be incorporated with other marketing and communication tools to achieve desired results.

While many bloggers maintain a blog for personal or social reasons or to generate an income, there are other bloggers who utilize their blogs to promote a cause. These blogs may be aimed at targeting a specific political or social cause depending on the interests of the blogger as well as blogger’s opinion that the blog can produce the political or social changes they are seeking. Blogs which are committed to promoting a particular cause may face more adversity than blogs with a lighter theme but they can also be very effective. However, blog owners who opt to maintain this type of blog should be aware of the ramifications of this type of blog. For example blog owners may receive negative comments from readers of the blog who disagree with the cause. This article will offer a few tips for choosing a cause for a blog and for promoting the blog to interested visitors.

Choosing a Cause for a Blog

Choosing a cause for a blog can vary in difficulty from extremely easy to incredibly difficult. The difficulty in making this decision will depend largely on the personal beliefs of the blog owner. A blog owner who is already committed to a particular cause will likely find this decision to be rather simple while blog owners who either have no strong social or political convictions or who have a wide variety of causes they wish to promote can find making this decision to be rather difficult. There are, however, a few factors the blog owner should carefully consider before selecting a cause to promote in a blog.

First and foremost a blog owner should select an issue for which they are either already quite knowledgeable or for which they are willing to do a great deal of research. This is important because the blog owner should post blog entries on a regular basis. These blog entries should be accurate and informative to the reader. Therefore, the blog owner should be well versed in the subject matter or at least interested in learning more about the subject matter.

Blog owners should also carefully consider the potential for influencing blog visitors regarding the topic of the blog. Although it will not be possible to convince all visitors to the blog to believe in the cause promoted by the blog, the blog owner should select a subject with which he is confident visitors to the blog will be influenced to agree with the viewpoints he presents in the blog.

Promoting the Blog to Interested Visitors

Once a blog owner decides on a subject for the blog, it is time to figure out how to promote the blog to the target audience. This can be accomplished in a number of different ways. For the sake of brevity, this article will discuss promoting a blog through search engine optimization and promoting a blog through participation in relevant forums.

Search engine optimization is a very effective way for promoting a blog. This practice involves making efforts to increase the search engine rankings to ensure interested Internet users are directed to the blog. This can be done in a number of different ways including careful use of appropriate keywords, appropriate use of tags such as title tags and image tags and generating back links to the blog. All of these efforts can help to improve search engine rankings which should also improve blog traffic.

Blog owners can also promote their blog by participating in relevant forums and message boards. The blog owner may simply participate in these forums and offer relevant input while including a link to the blog in his signature. Other forum users are likely to click on the link if the blog owner is well respected within the forum. The blog owner may even be able to incorporate a link to his blog in the message body of forum posts if it appropriate and acceptable according toe the message board guidelines.
